Chambers Creek Regional WWTP Project Awarded

A Bit of Background …

The Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Pierce Country WA uses a combination of physical and biological treatment processes to treat residential and commercial wastewater and sewage.

Liquids from incoming wastewater are separated from solids at the plant. After extensive treatment the liquids are discharged to Puget Sound in accordance with strict standards specified in the the county’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.

Also, Nutrient-rich solid byproducts, known as biosolids, are refined into a dry pellet and sold as SoundGRO fertilizer to local and commercial customers. SoundGRO meets Environmental Protection Agency Class A “Exceptional Quality” biosolids standards. Some solids, including grease, are disposed of at a sanitary landfill.

Power Design was approached in 2015 to supply enclosures for Pierce County’s  Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion. Our project engineers worked with Pierce County to develop a custom split walk-in acoustic sound fiberglass enclosure to house special designed Hartzell blowers .

And Now …

major expansion of the plant was completed in 2017. The project increased capacity from 28.7 million gallons per day (MGD) to 44 MGD. The upgraded facilities are designed to meet county population and economic growth through 2030 and prepare for projected growth through 2040 – with future improvements
